< Back

Properties
C83600 bronze is otherwise known as Gunmetal is a copper-tin cast alloy with added zinc. Lead can also be added to improve machining and other properties. It is corrosion resistant and also resistant to stress corrosion cracking and dezincification. It is very versatile and is renowned as having high ductility, good casting qualities. Additionally it is easy to weld and has good thermal and electrical conductivity properties.

Applications
Due to the versatile properties of gunmetal it is used in a wide variety of applications. It has very good corrosion resistance, making it an ideal choice in marine environments with the material being used for seawater valves and ships components. When gunmetal is in sand cast condition it shows improved strength, hardness, impact resistance and elongation. This makes it an ideal candidate for highly corrosive conditions.
